The central purpose for assembling as a congregation is to gather around God’s Word and Sacraments. By doing so, we heed God’s admonition in Hebrews [10:24-25] “Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”…
As we consider one another and each one’s needs, we realize that friendship is certainly important to us. In addition to the Divine Service and the different Bible Studies we offer, we also have times to speak and encourage one another and to get to know each other more personally. These opportunities often involve food.
On Sunday mornings, between the Divine Service and our study hour, we take a short break for refreshments which are provided by the ladies of our congregation.
During the seasons of Advent (the weeks before Christmas) and Lent (the weeks before Easter), we have held soup and sandwich meals before our Wednesday night service.
In addition, many of our members often go out together for lunch after our Sunday morning activities.
At various times in the year, we get together to enjoy each others’ company.
